Who fills it out?

Why it matters
It’s intended to show the real experience to insurers and new employers — so drivers get faster hiring and fairer insurance rates.

What’s the difference between “Class 1 Driver Experience Record” and “Commercial Driver Experience Certificate”?
4
They're the same document — the two names just come from different places. The Government of Alberta officially calls it the Class 1 Driver Experience Record, while insurers and many carriers call it the Commercial Driver Experience Certificate (CDEC). Both refer to the standardized form that reports your Class 1 driving history: employment dates, equipment operated, jurisdictions, safety record, and training. So if your insurer asks for a "CDEC" but the government website says "record," don't worry — it's the same thing, and the form we complete for you works for both.
I'm a carrier — do I have obligations under this regulation?
5
Yes. Alberta's regulation requires carriers to maintain and issue this certificate to Class 1 drivers at the end of their employment. MKON can help you set this up correctly. Contact us for a free consultation.
